Powerpoint tips

There are only two things that I gleaned from the power point articles: Keep it simple and sleek, and don't write all over the slide. Complicated things on a slide will confuse your audience and lose their attention. These are good ground rules for making a presentation. I think I'm going to talk about the Crab Nebula for my presentation topic.

Chris Nolan's presentation

I found this presentation helpful in fully exploring the aspects of the google search engine that I didn't know about before, specifically google scholar and the cached pages. I also found the ability to omit or focus on certain types of pages especially helpful. Google searches to me have always been especially useful, and thanks to Chris Nolan I have learned new ways to make them even more useful.

Response to "They stole an image of my son and just had to pay $4000"

I think this story is typical of large companies, if a violation like this comes up they most likely refer the person to their lawyer and hope they give up the chase. This guy was right to pursue it though, large companies need to learn that they aren't above any laws, even those regarding the use of internet content. Just because you found it on google doesn't mean you automatically can use it for anything.

Word processor experience

I have used Microsoft Word since the 1995 version, and I'm pretty familiar with most of its functions. I'm pretty new at the 2007 version though, and I don't quite know my way around it as well. I'd like to become better at using the new Word during this class, and also learn some of the advanced formatting options, etc available in it.

My computer experience

I'm pretty proficient at using computers, especially PCs. I have been using both MACs and PCs in school since I was in grade school. The stuff I don't know how to do immediately I can usually figure out given some time. I like using computers and I hope this class teaches me more about using my computer more efficiently and also which programs are best to keep my computer free of viruses. I own a Dell Latitude D830 and enjoy using the new Vista operating system. I can connect to all of my network drives easily, though it takes me awhile to search them.

About me

Hello, my name is Crosby Burdon and I am a Trinity Freshman from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
I am a musician, I love playing guitar and have a Fender Stratocaster, the most well-known guitar in rock and roll history. I make music as well as play other artists, and I want to get more serious about writing my own music. I also love going to the rock climbing gym, reading, talking about cars/driving them, and gaming. I love computers and pride myself at being competent with most technology. My entire immediate family is either current Trinity students or alumni, so I knew pretty much exactly where I wanted to go for college. That's about all there is to say about me.
